I am trying to do some training for the Half-Marathon in November again. I ran it last year and had so much fun, so I decided I wanted to run it again this year, but with a faster time...actually running to complete it and not running it for the experience. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me, oh well. Now that we are out of school, I am running with Sydnie in the stroller; she asks to get out and run a little and asks like a broken record if the run is finished. Tim fixed the MP3 player for her so she would have something to do and keep her mind busy. It does seem to help, but let's face it-she is getting heavy. I can come up with many excuses not to run with her: it's harder with her, I don't get any quiet time, she complains, etc. The fact is, I just need to change my perspective and be thankful for the time we have to share and the ability to take her with me. My Dad sent me a link to a YouTube/GodTube video clip this morning. Man, did it slap me in the face and make me cry!! Not only should I change my perspective of thankfulness, I should relish the opportunities and blessings God has given me, even when they are embedded in situations that may hide them, or I just don't see them as clearly. Thanks, Mom and Dad for that reminder that good things come from above and worth the effort!!

What an inspiration for me, hopefully it will inspire you as well.

Today Sydnie had a friend over to play. Mia came and spent the day while her dad had surgery on his ankle. They had sooo much fun! They were both so excited that for naps, they went in to the room, only to ask when they could wake up, many many times :) Here are a few pictures from the day.

FUN!

Sydnie and Mia each chose a baby to have join us outside for our picnic.

We couldn't be the only ones to eat. Sim has to eat, too.

We have discovered make-up! Yes, Sydnie is only 3-years-old, but she has discovered that putting on mommy's make-up is lots of fun! How did we make this discovery? It all started as I was cleaning out the cabinet in the bathroom, one of my plans during the summer to clean out as much as I can. Sydnie decided she wanted to help me. Well, knowing it would take much longer I just resigned my self to cleaning out one cabinet instead of both, and pursued the goal. As I was taking things out, she asked about each thing. That was fun in itself, a story for another day... Anyway, as I was consolidating packages and travel size items and doing an inventory of all we would need to replenish for our trip in July she found the travel/sample make-up packs. She was very excited trying them on her face, playing with the brushes, looking in the mirror. I don't wear a lot of make-up and I when I do wear it I wear pretty light colors. Right now, I am very glad, or else I would have a little girl so painted up nobody would recognize her! She sees me go through my routine many mornings, but I am expecting to have a little more interest now when it comes to the make-up time....we'll see.
